About
Hello!
My name is Simone Carolina Bauch and I'm a Brazilian/German environmental economist looking at the interface between sustainable resource management and economics development. I currently work at the Inter-American Development Bank based in their office in Brasília (Brazil).
Since completing my PhD at NC State I worked as a post doc at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) looking at REDD and trying to figure out how to deal with issues such as baselines, MRV and leakage. I've also worked at CIFOR in Brazil as a consultant and at Imazon (Amazon Institute of People and the Environment) in Belém, Brazil as researcher and Climate Change coordinator.
My research interests span a wide array of topics, such as measuring effectiveness of conservation policies (i.e. protected areas, integrated conservation and development programs), social networks, health, climate change, REDD and land use. In researching these topics I make use of quantitative methods such as program evaluation, spatial econometrics, panel data analysis, quantile regressions, etc.
